Henry the Patriot

by Amy Belding Brown

Last night if you walked out to old Walden Pond
seeking Henry's bold spirit, of which we're all fond,

you'd have left disappointed, since he wasn't there;
all you would have discovered was his empty chair.

But luckily Henry was not far away,
for he'd sought out on TV the Superbowl play.

Like all from New England, he felt rightful pride
in faithfully taking the Patriots' side.

Last night he was cheering along with the rest
for the team that we knew all along was the best.

And today we are thrilled -- for the underdogs won!
And Henry T's land has its day in the sun. :-)
