The End of Postmodernism
(A Recipe)

by Amy Belding Brown

If you've ever asked this question --
will Postmodernism end? --
here's a recipe that you can use
'fore we all go round the bend.

Take one Fish, and quick-fillet him
with the hammer of your wit.
Then sprinkle with Assertions
even though they may not fit.

Consult your thesaurus often
for the lengthiest of words --
concentrate on adjectives and isms.
You won't need too many verbs.

Add a pinch of old Max Weber
and a teaspoon of hot air,
Stir in a cup of Universals,
with Philosophy to spare.

Bake in a greedy oven
at a judgmental heat
until it's roasted so well that
relevance is in retreat.

Then take and cut it open
and devour it in peace --
for I fear till every crumb is gone
this thread will never cease. ;-)
