[A poetry ambush]

A poetry ambush
was not my intent --
a cheerful "excuse me"
was all that I meant.
If my images vexed you
that's an unlucky gaff,
for I aimed to elicit
a smile and a laugh.
Some wisdom comes less
from our ponderous thought
than from collective laughter
at the non-sense we've wrought.
But to stop your discussion
is not my desire
so I'll take a back seat
and avoid the crossfire. ;-)
