your mouth is shaped
by every word you speak,
if you want to have
a beautiful mouth
speak of beautiful things!
Speak of trees and sunlight
on water and the bright
wings of singing birds.
Speak of snow and stars
falling in darkness;
speak of skin like
polished ebony and finger
nails translucent as shells.
Speak of hope rising
like a white feather
on a long river of air;
speak of the great
drumming heart of the planet:
Speak of love
and your mouth will
always be filled with truth
and beautiful enough
to wake the gods.
