The Semantics of Panenthism,
or The Mystic's Oxymoron

by Amy Belding Brown

Though panenthism can't be found
in every dictionary that's around,
it still intrigues my rebel heart
and prompts me to reflection's art.
For logic's charm holds finite sway,
contrasted with devotion's way.
The absurd thus rarely troubles me
since it gestures to this Mystery --
the same transcendent God we praise
is fully incarnate in all our days.
Leave judgement to the orthodox;
encounter Truth in paradox.
Though reason refuse both in and of
the Spirit still limns the path of Love.
