Dear Psymon

Congrats on a brilliant site, and what a mixture of visitors! I downloaded the Hans Holbein DOD set as I'm into decorated and illuminated caps too. I'm a typesetter and purely coincidentally (or is it reciprocity?) I am in the process of setting a book on the period which uses several details from Holbein's Dance of Death to illustrate the argument. The book would be enormously improved by the addition of these illustrated caps to begin the chapters, but as the publisher is BIG, they would not be pleased if faced with any embarrassment over copyright. So, can you assure me they are copyright free even for business purposes? And any idea where they came from - ie where the originals (woodcuts?) might be housed, and where your copy came from?
Sorry to be so long winded. The author is ecstatic about them, beyond her wildest dreams!

Nice skull! William Blake would be proud of you. I remember there's a line he wrote on one of his images about having a memory of waiting in a printing shop in Hell where the technique was passed on from generation to generation. He developed his own style of graphics from his profession as a printer. He wanted to be an artists, but his father apprenticed him to be a printer thinking it more practical. I'm sure he would like what you've done with this virtual tome.

I went looking for Coster; came up with your site. The definitive arguement favouring Koster (as Coster) is probably to be found in 11th edition of the Encyclopaedia Britannica, Vol. XXVII, pp 513, ff, under "Typography". Very detailed, very compelling. Also seems more accurate on the subject than current Britannica offerings on the Web. Thanks.

I like your website, very purdee, but you forgot to have a "back to homepage" link and as I move through your pages, I think it's a necessity. Also, forget Gutenberg (cause everyone knows it was actually Johann Fust anyway) and forget your guy... it was the Korean Emperor of the 12th century who actually invented movable type and furthermore, by the end of his life, all his subjects were LITERATE, something that did NOT happen in Europe for MEGA centuries.

I found this site because I am working on geneology. Yes, geneology and one of my distant cousins said that one of our ancestors was Lauren jansoon Koster (wife Lucia). He lived in Harlem Holland and died in the plague sometime around 1339-1340. That the Koster pedigree carried down to 1724. Our ancestor Peter came to America in 1738.

Just wanted to say I'm delighted to find such a fine tribute to Leni Riefenstahl. After viewing "The Wondereful Horrible Life of Leni Riefenstahl," my wife decided a young woman couldn't have a better role model than Leni. I agree.
She's also an inspiration for everyone over 50 in light of how she has confronted the ravages and limitations of age and triumphed (appropriate word, eh?).
I've not seen much about her in the last year or two and I hope she's happy and healthy as she approaches her 100th birthday this year.

I came here looking for a Block Cap font to use on my webpage's title. I didn't find anything I could really use, but DLed the Dance of Death caps set. I just couldn't help myself! =^.^= Nicely done.
Wish it was a font, though.

You'd be surprized how very hard it is to find a simple block illumination these days, no pictures and not too badly done or 70S-ish. *shrugs* Nice page overall, though. I like your layout design, fits the page's theme well.

I'm glad I found your site. I'm going through major changes in my life, but I find myself resisting. I'm afraid of the unkonwn and comfortable with familiarity.
