Season's Geekings

Season's Geekings

My virtual greeting card for the Christmas Holidays, 1999.

Map of Walden Pond

Map of Walden Pond *

An artistic rendering of Walden Pond and surrounding area (circa 1943-48).

A Star for an Imaginary Friend

A Star for an Imaginary Friend *

Artwork created from an actual photograph of the star.

Three Surviving Copies

Three Surviving Copies *

Perhaps one day I'll auction these babies off, but for now these treasures shall remain in my private collection.

San Serriffe

San Serriffe *

An ærial shot of the fabled tiny South Pacific island nation of San Serriffe, showing the islands of Upper Caisse and Lower Caisse, as well as the capital city of Bodoni.

Henry at Walden *

Henry at Walden *

I've been a BIG fan of Henry David Thoreau ever since I was a teenager, and in browsing the Thoreau-related auctions on eBay every once in a while, I kept seeing these little "Boyds Thoreau" items come up for sale. Boyds Bears makes really nice little teddy bears and related accessories, and this was from a now-discontinued series of plush bears they had several years ago on famous American authors (which in this case aren't actually bears, but cats). Eventually, I got tired of seeing those "Boyds Thoreau" items coming up for auction all the time, and figured that I had better buy one, if only to play my small part in helping to bring the apparent over-population of these stray, homeless cats down. ;)

And here he is! Just a-hangin' out by his cabin at Walden Pond, tryin' to decide what to do for the day — and, for Henry, that choice is a simple one, of course! :)

Satan Claus

Satan Claus *

Hey, don't go off being all offended, folks — it's just a bit of silliness, aroused by a rather obvious play on words! ;) This piece was inspired by an old woodcut by Gustav Doré, from an old edition of Dante's Inferno.

Survivor

Survivor *

The hopefully-not-reality show. :(

Transparent Eyeball

Transparent Eyeball *

If you can believe it, a portrait of Ralph Waldo Emerson! At least, this piece is an adaptation of a 19th century caricature of him done by fellow transcendentalist, Christopher Cranch. Isn't that sort of vision what we all aspire to, though?
